DEV AMA Recap: The Journey Through Hexi

2026-05-02 LATEST

Throughout the Hexi expansion, we have walked alongside you, from the deserts of Jade Gate Pass to the snowbound mountains of Liangzhou, and now to its finale in Qinchuan.
Hexi has been a long and vivid dream we built together.
Along the way, we have gathered your thoughts, questions, and reflections from across the community.
In this DEV AMA, we have put together responses to some of the topics you have cared about most.
We would also like to take this moment to say thank you to every wanderer who walked this road with us.

Q1: What can you share about anti-cheat? Is the cheat detection system getting improved, or will there be a better way to detect cheaters in Arena?

A: I can assure you that anti-cheat is a TOP priority for us—both right now and long term.
At the moment, we're running a two-layer system: automated real-time detection + manual review. The automation handles scale, the humans handle judgment. Unfortunately, judgment takes time because we want to avoid false bans.
This gets especially tricky at higher ranks, where it's harder to confidently determine whether it is cheating or just very high-level play—in some cases it can take days, sometimes even weeks, to reach a confident decision. It's also worth noting that evidence isn't always definitive. Player-submitted videos and screenshots are genuinely helpful, but in rare cases they can be misleading, incomplete, or even edited. So we try to be careful here—we don't want to punish legitimate players or situations where things might look off due to latency or other factors.
But we know there's more to do. We're actively working on improving detection, refining how we flag and review suspicious behavior. We also want to be more transparent about enforcement and share updates more regularly as things evolve.
As always, we really appreciate players continuing to report suspicious behavior and share evidence—it genuinely helps us keep the environment fair.

Q2: What about the cheaters on the PvE leaderboard?

A: We are aware of issues around PvE leaderboard exploits, world chat moderation, and mass-reporting abuse. These are all on our radar, and we will be digging into them as well.

Q3: What steps are being taken to improve PVP balance and overall matchmaking experience?

A:
1. PVP combat - The current system allows for a lot of build flexibility. While it opens up a lot of interesting combinations and playstyles, it also makes balance a bit more complex to manage.
We'll continue to make adjustments on a seasonal basis, while also keeping a close eye on win rates and player feedback across different setups. It's an ongoing process, and we'll keep iterating to maintain a competitive environment that's both fair and diverse.
In future updates, we will also clearly outline numerical changes in the patch notes to help players better adjust their strategies.

2. Ping/matchmaking: We are actively monitoring latency across regions and looking at ways to improve matchmaking performance. We've seen your feedback around delays, and we're currently testing a few different approaches (like factoring in physical distance between regions) to find a better balance between match quality and queue times.

Q4: Will we get the Black Market system ported to the global version?

A: Recently, we've received a lot of requests from players hoping to see the Black Market system released in overseas versions. We completely understand the excitement and interest around this, but we also want to be transparent about some of the challenges we're facing.
Due to the complex and strict differences in laws and compliance requirements across various countries and regions, we're unfortunately not able to bring this system over directly as-is to the global version.
That said, we don't want to let anyone down. After a lot of internal discussion, the team has decided to take a different approach. We are currently working on designing a brand-new system that will allow players to earn rare rewards through long-term in-game activity and progression.
This new system is still in the design and development phase, but it's something we're putting a lot of effort into. We really appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through these challenges—please give us a bit more time, and we hope to share more good news with you soon.

Q5: What about customer support? Are there any improvements coming?

A: YES! We're working on improving our customer support processes and technical support systems, with the goal of reducing wait times and resolving issues more efficiently.
We'll do our best to improve the overall support experience as soon as possible.

Q6: Is it still possible for the global version to catch up to CN?

A: We understand the desire to get new content as soon as it lands on CN. At the same time, fully aligning content timelines in the short term presents some practical challenges.
Each CN update is huge, and bringing that over to global isn't just a copy-paste job. It takes extensive localization work (language as well as making sure things make sense across regions), plus different technical adjustments so it runs properly across different platforms, devices, and environments, to ensure the content is delivered with the intended quality and completeness.
While there will be some gap in overall progression, we want to PROMISE two points.
1. We are committed to delivering substantial and meaningful new content each season, so the experience remains consistent and engaging.
2. We are actively monitoring player feedback and will prioritize porting well-received CN improvements to the global version where appropriate.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue working on this.
